Bine is a frequent and welcome guest at NTY, and we’re excited that she’ll be spinning her records for us again at the last edition of the Weekender!:

After many years of dancing across the floors of the German and international soul scene as Bee Bee Boogie (Sabbl Bimbolinski), I «switched sides» after moving to Hamburg in 2017 – and since then, you’ll also find me behind the decks.

With my own blend and take on 60s and 70s soul, seasoned with a touch of rhythm and blues, I play regularly at the Mojo Jazz Café as one of the B’s in BBL Unlimited!

My favorites I’m planning to play:

Bessie Banks – Don’t You Worry
Brief Encounter – Human
Stylus – We All Need One Another
The Debonaires – In the Rain
Ujima – I’m Not Ready

Pinto Galli (CH) /dj/pinto-galli-ch/ Mon, 16 Mar 2026 08:46:44 +0000 /?p=950 Pinto Galli loves music that carries something special – that breaks the mould, that breathes authenticity. His crates are a journey: raw classic funk, Caribbean rhythms, Afro-beat, Brazilian grooves, 70s crossover, boogie, disco and modern soul – always with that certain something and a few extra newtons on the groove.

A regular at Kasheme Zürich and a familiar face at the NOT TOO YOUNG Swiss Soul Weekender over the years, Pinto has built a collection spanning continents and decades, with no small number of rarities and obscurities that make the Shazam screens light up mid-dancefloor. His sets have taken him from Basel basement nights to radio studios, from Lisbon record shops to international vinyl gatherings.

One thing has stayed constant: he clearly loves his music, and more than once he’s been spotted slipping off the decks and onto the dancefloor mid-set. For the 13th and final edition of NTY, it feels only right that he’s there – celebrating the end of a chapter that has been part of his story all along.

Max aka. Sir Vivor (DE) /dj/max-aka-sir-vivor-de/ Mon, 09 Mar 2026 10:07:08 +0000 /?p=930 Growing up between the eclectic record collection of my dad had a big impact on my understanding of music besides getting to know very early how to correctly touch a vinyl record.

As records of western origin (mainly British and American Beat, Jazz and Blues) were tough go get in GDR times, most of my fathers records have a personal story beside the actual recorded music.

When I started buying records as a teenager, simultaneously starting a reggae band, stories and the songs were always more important to me than the rarity or the price of the record.

Hanging around with the local mods, skinheads, punks and hiphop scene made me dig deeper into reggae and soul trying to join the dots. so I started doing own events as Upon My Soul!

One of my first guests were Henning and Emel, who started around the same time with their own events. Our paths crossed quite often, especially when I lived in Zurich for 2 years. Thanks to them a lot of my records have a story that is connected to the Swiss family. Since then I was fortunate to have been invited by lovely likeminded people and to be able to travel with my records to places in and around Germany, Italy, England, Poland and of course the Swiss family’s NOT TOO YOUNG. I am really looking forward coming back the shore of the alps for a last waltz on Vierwaldstätter see.

Current Top 5

I’ve been collecting records of all kinds for a few decades. Over the last 2–3 years my focus has been on Kenyan records, so I’ll probably play a few of those. I love the NOT TOO YOUNG Weekender and I’m proud to be playing the final one.

Soul2TheMax (DE) /dj/soul2themax-de/ Sat, 07 Mar 2026 16:54:20 +0000 /?p=919 The Roots:

  • Exactly 20 years ago, as a clueless young scooterist, I went with my friends to a scooter run with an allnighter.
  • There I heard Northern Soul for the first time and instantly fell head over heels in love.
  • I was fascinated by the feelings this music triggered in me and by the style of dancing (which I still can’t really do well today 😅).

DJing:

  • Since 2008.
  • Through the local club scene in Ingolstadt, I dove more into the house music scene and later into all kinds of genres (commercial).
  • For 10 years I played intensively almost every weekend, regionally and beyond, across southern Germany.

Soul Scene:

  • Only from around 2016 did I start occasionally visiting the big weekenders in Germany.
  • I bought single vinyl records very sporadically.
  • Only since the pandemic have I been collecting soul records intensively.

Genres:

  • I love everything from 60s to early 80s R&B, Crossover, Northern, Modern, Sweet Soul, Funk that triggers a feeling in me. 😊
  • Alongside Northern Soul, in the last few years I’ve also developed a deep love for Sweet Soul and mid-tempo Crossover.

What I Love About Soul:

  • I love bathing in melancholy with heavy lyrics and melodies.
  • On the other hand, I love that especially in Northern Soul, sad lyrics are often carried by uplifting melodies.
  • In no other genre can I feel music in the same way.

Records I Like to Play:

  • Our Day Is Here – J.P. Robinson
  • It’s All Over But The Shouting – Ann Sexton
  • Chaos (In My Heart) – Vivian Copeland
  • Look On The Good Side – The Invitations
  • He Won’t Love You – Delores Eiler

Diggin Dave (BE) /dj/diggin-dave-be/ Tue, 03 Mar 2026 14:30:43 +0000 /?p=894 I’m Dave from Belgium. As so many of my contemporaries my first taste of good music was through hip-hop tapes that my friends brought along when we were bboying as kids. Since we were living in the middle of nowhere I never actually set foot in a record store, which changed very quickly when I enrolled in uni. At a record store I befriended a guy (still a good friend!) who first casually dropped the phrase ‘Northern Soul’ in a conversation. I pretended to know what he was talking about but didn’t have a clue obviously 🙂

A couple months later I saw a Northern Soul book behind the counter at another record store so decided to have a go, but it turned out to be an absolute disappointment! The book was just full of titles and artists and prices, which made for very mediocre toilet lecture. Turned out I had unknowingly bought a Manship price guide. Since doom scrolling was not an option back then, I started going through the lists and becoming more and more curious about the names. Fluorescent Smogg? The Sub Dominants? Rita & The Tiaras? I needed to find out what that was all about, so I did…

Started buying like a madman, completely plundered the bank account within months, so decided I needed to sell some to fund the habit. More than 20 years later, not much has changed. I’m still buying like crazy, still broke and my heart still fills with joy when I stumble upon an unknown gem, so long may it continue…

Over the years I have enjoyed dancing at soul weekenders around Europe and have played at a few myself, and some of the fondest memories are definitely from the NOT TOO YOUNG weekenders! With the family situation it has become difficult to attend these so I super duper happy to have the perfect excuse to come down for the last edition.

I don’t just stick to soul music when playing out, so if you feel like expanding your horizons, here’s a bunch of links to sets I’ve done over the years: Lovely link.

And here’s some tunes that might get a spin at NTO (although my hot box is still empty at this point):

  • Mr Lucky – Born To Love You
  • Jodesha – Star Ride
  • Kiosk – Mona Call
  • New Horizon – I Get That Feeling
  • Aged In Harmony – I Feel Like Dancin’

Rude Attack Soundsystem (CH) /dj/rude-attack-soundsystem-ch/ Thu, 04 Jan 2024 17:00:46 +0000 https://nty.bimbamdingdong.net/?p=244 Gimme a bunch of mates, who want to share their passion for original Reggae & Soul at the best club on this planet, Sedel – The Club in our home town Luzern. Rude Attack was born! After some do’s, we went into promoting gigs & released a handful of records as well. Our aim was to present contemporary bands, which keep the 60’s Ska/Reggae/Soul flag flying.

After some years unfortunately, our original core member Andy left the crew. It was quite a loss, so the remaining members Witschi and Jefy aka Brick Top The Tiger decided to stop as gig promoter. So, we went back to put on Reggae & Soul do’s with the intention to invite one (international) guest DJ each and every do. Over the years and with our countless trips to the UK, the wish to build an own Sound System grew more and more. Finally, in 2014 we managed to realise our dream together with Rouven, another long-term Reggae aficionado. Now, it’s 2025 and the Rude Attack train keeps on rolling, already for 25 years!

Brick Top Top 5

Well, it’s really difficult to name a top 5 spin list, as it depends on the mood, the crowd (of course!) & the session what will land on the turntable. I’m spinning all different kind of Reggae genres, from Ska to Rock Steady, Boss Reggae, Roots & Dub.

  • Don Drummond – China Town
  • Jackie Mittoo & Soul Vendors – Tropic Island
  • Sensations – Darling Forgive Me
  • Errol Dunkley – Keep The Pressure Down
  • King Tubby – King At The Control

Witschi and his Top 5

As we bring our Soundsystem to the Boat at the Soul Weeekender, I’m gonna play Rhythm & Blues which played a big part when the first Soundsystems appeared in Jamaica and in developing the Jamaican music we all love.

  • Clue J and his Blues Blasters – Hard Blues Woman
  • Higgs & Wilson – Sha Ba Da
  • Percy Mayfield – Cookin’ in Style
  • Junior Parker – I Feel Alright Again
  • Etta James – Pick Up
